Notes:

​This table shows the basic salary bands for Police Constables with effect from 1 September 2019. This does not include additional remuneration benefits such as the police pension, potential for overtime, and role or location related allowances offered in most forces. In England & Wales, some forces (e.g. Metropolitan Police) provide additional allowances and salary relating to cost of living in those areas. 'PP' stands for 'Pay Point' and generally officers progress to the next PP upon each year of service. For PSNI, PP1(a) refers to commencement as trainee, PP1(b) upon commencement as a probationary constable. Some England & Wales forces who recruit through the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) may start officers on a slightly lower salary until officers reach 'Independent Patrol Status' (IPS); officers then progress to PP1 after achieving IPS.
